I’m not sure if this would be useful to anyone that reads this blog, but I thought I’d tell you about a tool that the McMillan family uses to keep in touch – a family website. We use MyFAMILY and have been for about 4-5 years I would guess. It allows a message board, pictures, file uploads, family trees, address book etc. Unlike a blog – you need a username and password to get in. It costs us about 35$ per year – a fair bit for a good Scottish family like ours, but I think it’s worth it even just to keep us a bit better connected. Our use of the site goes in cycles, from nothing for weeks to lively debate and info trading daily.
Recently I ran across a new service that looks pretty good, it appears to be free and offers some good features. It’s called Jotspot Family Site.
Have you checked out OurStory.com? They have a similar service, which allows you to share timelines of personal and family history. There is also a photo feature, as well as the ability to print a nicely bound book which you can give as a keepsake. It’s a pretty cool site!
