Wild Flowers

June 24, 2008 Tim 3 comments

When we bought our house in Saskatoon, one of the things I liked was the wildflower garden growing in the back yard.  I figured we would clean it up a bit but it was really nice.

When we arrived in August, it had been mowed.  Mowed really low. Not that pretty.  The picture above is from early this spring.

That’s why it was nice this past weekend to come home and find Daisy’s in full bloom.  There are a few other types of flowers in there that should bloom anytime.  I think we’ll thin out the daisy’s a bit in a few places and give something else a change.  I had put up some rope to keep the kids and Wyatt from walking through the area over and over – but as you can see, there’s no real need for that anymore.

The Adventure continues…

Well the yard work adventure took another step this week – another piece of cool machinery came to visit! We’re pretty happy with the results so far, but are going to take a bit of a break before we bring in the clay and topsoil and attempt to grow Saskatchewan type grass in the Arctic. This week’s project: Shed moving! Should be fun.

I’ve been eagerly anticipating changing our yard around since we bought this place a year ago. Here’s a few pictures from what the yard looked like before today to when the loader left. He’s coming back tomorrow hopefully…
