And you thought the stairs were bad in Mizoram mom!
I thought of Brianne when I saw this… she sure likes Mini Donkeys, maybe someday she can get a mini zonkey.
A zonkey (also known as zebrass, zebronkey, zeass, zeedonk, zedonk, zebadonk, zenkey, donbra, donbri, donkra, zebrinny, or deebra, zebrula) is a cross between a zebra and a donkey. The generic name for crosses between zebras and horses or asses is zebroid or zebra mule. “Zonkey” is not the technically correct name for such a cross. The most commonly accepted terms are zebrinny, zebrula, and zedonk. Donkeys are closely related to zebras and both animals belong to the horse family. Zonkeys are very rare.[1]

I was going through some old boxes in the garage and found this picture the other day – must have been around 2000 maybe? We’ve been lucky enough to have these three “kids” visit us her in Saskatoon over the past few weeks, they have grown up to be great people, great friends, and they are great mentors for my kids, I didn’t imagine all that on this night though!
I was dealing with some e-waste at work today, got me thinking about how big of a problem it is. In school someone had done a presentation about it and talked about the city of Guiyu – where a whole lot of our old computers and tech stuff goes to die – and kill. I found this picture that is heart wrenching – didn’t want to steal it from the lady who took it (Natalie Behring) so you’ll have to go to her flickr site (go to the “ewaste” set) – looks like she’s got lots of good stuff to look at anyway, including some really nice shots from the Olympics. There is much to consider the next time you throw your electronics in the trash…

When we bought our house in Saskatoon, one of the things I liked was the wildflower garden growing in the back yard. I figured we would clean it up a bit but it was really nice.
When we arrived in August, it had been mowed. Mowed really low. Not that pretty. The picture above is from early this spring.
That’s why it was nice this past weekend to come home and find Daisy’s in full bloom. There are a few other types of flowers in there that should bloom anytime. I think we’ll thin out the daisy’s a bit in a few places and give something else a change. I had put up some rope to keep the kids and Wyatt from walking through the area over and over – but as you can see, there’s no real need for that anymore.
